Homebuilders Counselling Service
Counselling is offered for children/young people (up to 17 years) and families/whanau to achieve the following outcomes:
- Improved health, welfare and educational outcomes for children, young people and their families/whanau
- Improved parenting skills
- Improved family/whanau functioning
Counsellors are approved and contracted to Homebuilders under a memorandum of agreement.
Children and/or families/whanau can request counselling to enable the family/whanau to remain intact, improve family/whanau relationships, or to make a positive change to the family/whanau environment.
To access the counselling service a referral is received by Homebuilders. The Team Leader completes an initial assessment with the client who chooses an approved Counsellor from Homebuilders list of contracted Counsellors. The referral to the Counsellor will be completed by Homebuilders Team Leader.
The assessment process takes minimal time and is necessary for Homebuilders results based accountability.
The referral will allow up to six hours with a counsellor.
Homebuilders will pay for the six hours counselling. At the end of the six hours an evaluation is completed by the client – telling us what is different for the child/young person and their family. The evaluation also asks if the counsellor treated you well.
If the Counsellor requires further payment, it will be negotiated between the Counsellor and client.
Homebuilders counselling service is available to children and families/whanau across the West Coast.
